The third release from "Sound Of The Underground" was the fan-favourite "Life Got Cold". 

Best described as a moody ballad full of attitude, the single was released in August 2003, not typically a month one would associate with ballads, or indeed feeling cold. 

But record buyers didn't seem to think anything of this, as the single went straight in at #3, making Girls Aloud the first ever act to go 1-2-3 with their first three singles on the singles chart. 

However due to stocking problems of the CD2, "Life Got Cold" was selling mainly on the strength of CD1 and a tape.  It emerged the girls had missed out on the #2 spot by a mere few hundred copies.  With a more widely available CD2, they could potentially have reached #2 instead.  The #1 of this week was Blu Cantrell - "Breathe", and the #2 was Lemar's debut single "Dance (With U)".

"Life Got Cold" helped revive the "Sound Of The Underground" album, which had got off to a disappointing start, despite entering at #2 - it had only sold around 100,000 copies up to the point of this singles release.  "Life Got Cold" itself sold over 80,000 copies in total.
