Launching "The Sound Of Girls Aloud - The Greatest Hits" was 13th single "Something Kinda Ooooh".

Described as "not like classic Girls Aloud" before it received its first airplay, it was the danciest track they'd done since "The Show", but having a distinctly clubby feel to it.  The sound reinvention received a favourable response.  Radio 1 A-Listed the track, the first single of Girls Aloud to make it higher than B-List since their debut single.  The single went on to peak at #19 on Radio Airplay.

The video of this track sees the girls in fast cars super-imposed on a moving backward, plus dance scenes.  It became something of a talking point, with fans complaining how cheap looking the video was.  Curiously the video was edited hastily after first debuting, with previous "errors" being corrected.  Despite criticism, the video did excellently, peaking at  #5 on TV Airplay and remaining in the Top 20 most played videos for 2 months.  In late 2007, Cheryl stated that the video was their least favourite, and that they had run out of time filming on the day, so it hadn't turned out quite like they had imagined.

The download version of the single was released one week prior to the physical, on 15th October 2006.  The success of the download was unprecedented - it peaked at #1 on the iTunes main chart, and as a result the single entered the official UK chart straight in at #5 on the strength of its download sales.  In doing so, Girls Aloud became the first British act ever to enter the Top 10 on download sales alone.  The only other acts to have done it up to this point were American or Canadian, including Gnarls Barkley, Rihanna, Nelly Furtado, Scissor Sisters and The Killers.

The single saw its full release the week after, and entered at #3 behind McFly and Fedde Le Grand, thus becoming their first Top 3 single since I'll Stand By You.  It was their most successful single since "I'll Stand By You", and sold well over 180,000 copies, making it their fifth best selling single to date.

'Something Kinda Ooooh' re-entered the UK Top 75 in 2008 at #136 two years after it was released, in the week 'The Promise' debuted at #1.
